Katie + Rob | Memphis Wedding Trailer

Every wedding has something that makes it unique. Whether the groomsmen play with Nerf guns before the ceremony, or perhaps the maid of honor forgets the "all important" ring. Maybe the officiant accidently pronounces the bride's name wrong or perchance a camera guy accidently causes a wreck on Poplar Ave - more about that incident later ;). No matter what happens, each wedding has a special place in my heart.

The King made an appearance at Katie and Rob's festivities!

Katie and Rob's wedding day was no different. It started out with a bang, an aboslutely goregous rehearsal dinner at Automatic Slims. Top that off with a suprise performance from Memphis' own "King!" It was a night full of laughter! The love Katie and Rob have already shared for some 7 years together was evident to everyone who heard the stories of what brought them to this day.

The next day's festivities were a blast to be apart of. For all those perspective brides out there - I highly recommend an autumn wedding. The crisp cool air and cloudless sky on that October day was amazing! The Dixon Gardens provided just the right backdrop for a simple and elegant ceremony. To finish the night off, a band who rocked the sounds from "The British Invasion" era gave the guests a reason to dance the night away! I couldn't have imagined a better fit - daisies in Mason jars, quotes from famous authors, "The King", and my favorite era in music - "The British Invasion!"

Well, without further introduction - Katie + Rob's Wedding Trailer!

On a side note: check out my current full time job which gives me the chance to refine the art of event filmmaking. Ok, so I really just get to play with some awesome tech toys! (Scroll down a bit - I'm under Customer Service)

P.S. Just so you know - I will never stop making movies and sharing stories. It will always be my ultimate passion!

Josh + Stephani Proposal

A couple of weeks ago, Josh called me with a proposal. Literally. He told me how he planned on asking his first girlfriend to spend the rest of their lives together. It was obvious this was going to be a very special proposal.

The Peabody Hotel, a Memphis landmark, was where they spent their first date - and now it was to be the backdrop for Josh to pop the question.

Once the Peabody Ducks had made their famous march back upstairs, the night was just beginning for Josh and Stephani. After being serenaded by a smooth and soulful jazz singer and guitarist, Josh dropped down to one knee telling Stephani how happy she has made him.

Josh and Stephani look out at the fireworks after he proposed.

The answer? Stephani replied with a "Yes" mixed with tears of joy. I think everyone on that rooftop could not help but laugh and cry with them. But the suprises weren't over yet - Fireworks began to fill the Memphis skyline just over Mud Island. Just a simple text message had been sent to coordinate the entire affair.

It was such a joy and honor to film their special moment. Seeing a couple with such love for one another is always a great way to spend an evening.

A special thanks to The Peabody Hotel and amazing staff for such a beautiful backdrop to this monumentous proposal. Also to Destination King for their wonderful singer and jazz guitarist. And don't forget Amy Dale for taking such impressive pictures!

Josh and Stephani - Congratulations and I wish you many amazing years together!

James + Emily | Love Story | Memphis Wedding

James is a server at Macaroni Grill.

Emily worked at Express.

She had coupons. He needed clothes. The rest is history.

James and Emily are good friends of mine. In fact, I was working at Macaroni Grill with James when Emily first came in. I have seen their relationship grow over so much over the past three years. I was honored and very excited to be able to film their wedding this past weekend. Here's a little peek into how they met.

James and Emily love one another very much!

The Reconstruction - Trevor's Story

A few weeks ago, I intruduced you to Trevor Jenkins. If you missed it - check the blog post here.

With "The Reconstruction" only a few weeks away - we wanted to show Trevor's personal story on how he was changed to live as a missional Christian.

This has been one of my favorite videos to shoot. We used no lighting whatsoever. I love to film in natural and existing light. We originally wanted to film this video in a faded black and white.

Once we saw the footage, however, it was obvious we needed to keep the vibrant colors. All the different colors that symbolize that no matter your background and race - as Christians we all have the same purpose.

On other matters - some exciting things are coming down the pike. Keep a lookout for some new videos and blog posts!

Diane + Daniel | Memphis Wedding

What do lemons, limes, nerf guns, and machetes all have in common?

They all played a crucial role in Diane and Daniel's wedding. I never would have thought that those four things could come together to show the unique union between a couple. The word "classy" describes Daniel and Diane perfectly. They seek to put Christ first in everything and even had an extended period of musical worship during the middle of their ceremony. Nevertheless, they love to be crazy and spunky - especially together. It was a joy to be a part of such a special and fun day! Congrats to Diane and Daniel! For your viewing pleasure. :)

The Reconstruction

Meet Trevor Jenkins. Trevor is a resident pastor at the Downtown outpost of Fellowship Memphis. Trevor's passion for seeing lives changed and impacting the community around him is infectious.

Trevor Jenkins

I first met Trevor just over a year ago while I was a manager at Chick-fil-a. Sitting down and talking to him about Jesus and what it means to be a Christian during my break was a blast. It was so refreshing to hear someone with such passion and love for people.

Trevor called me a few weeks ago about a conference he was planning. He wanted to know about doing some short and inspiriational videos to help promote the conference. His vision was simple - The Reconstruction. Trevor pointed out that many Christians need to reconstruct their lives to live as a missional Christian.

We set out to meet people with a simple question, "Christians are commanded to be missionaries - so how are you living that out?"

Trevor also wanted to personally explain his vision for the conference. So we grabbed an obliging alley and shot this in one take. And Trevor says he isn't much of a public speaker. :)

We will be releasing a few more videos in the coming days!

Let me just take a minute and say that I have married into the best family in the world.

Don't get me wrong - my family is amazing. I would never think of being anything but a "Lancaster." HOWEVER, if I had to be in any other family, I would chose the Coggin Clan.

They have such love for humor, good food, and amazing music. I just had to share this recent birthday celebration with everyone.

PS - It was shot with the amazing Canon 7D - a new addition to my family :)

And without further ado...

Ta Daaa!!!

Everything started with a short little text that had big implications.  "How serious are you about your pursuit of video?" The text from a close friend of mine hit me like a Mack truck. For almost as long as I can remember, I have wanted to make movies - whether they were slideshows, funny sketches, or simply recap videos from my band and choir days. I just loved making people smile and giving them something they could watch in the years to come.

I even got my Communication degree with a concentration in Film and TV from the University of Memphis (GO TIGERS!).  Once I graduated and got married, however, making movies fell by the wayside. Providing for my sweet wife Laura became my number one priority. I made no room for my filmmaking dream.

So, that short text rang in my ears. I had forgotten about one of my greatest passions - telling stories. That text was the turning point. With my wife, family, and friends supporting me, I have begun to revisit the idea of making movies full time.
